Sam Raimi's picture is indeed an attempt to explore the dark recesses of a being's tortured psyche, but frankly you'll be too amused to care. Spider-Man 3 finds our hero taking his furthest leap yet into jocularity. Not every fan will consider it a happy landing...A delicate balance exists in Spider... MORE

"Spider-Man 3" may not be as good as the second entry in the series and it may introduce a few too many new characters without giving them enough depth, but it does move and it does entertain and it does make you smile. Let Raimi make another trilogy if he wants to...... MORE

The release last week of what is possibly (though not necessarily) the final episode of the Spider-Man cinematic franchise gave Marvel comics and Sam Raimi the chance to cap a modern morality fable - enhanced by special effects - with an ultimate confrontation between Good and Evil, placing the tril... I am just going to jump straight in here and say that although Spiderman 3 never quite manages to live up to the high standards set in its predecessors, it is still a highly enjoyable sequel that is the most fun I have had at the cinema for a long time. Raimi crams in as much as he possibly can in t... MORE

The black suit. The introduction of Gwen Stacy. The introduction of Eddie Brock. The origin of Venom. The origin of Sandman. Lots of stuff going on in this film - and oddly, it still works pretty well. When you've got the right people working on a film, it can juggle all of the above. Of course, whe... MORE

Popular psychology says that humans tend to recall just a few memory snapshots from events: the highs, the lows and the end. How unfortunate that moviegoers will remember the otherwise stellar "Spider-Man" trilogy predominantly for a poor ending. "Spider-Man 3" visually pleases: Special effects used... MORE

If you’re a Spider-Man/Marvel Comics geek and liked the previous two films, you will be pleased with act three. It’s now time for the writer to admit that I am, indeed, a Marvel Comics geek. More than anything besides rock-n-roll music, Marvel Comics changed my young life…The movie moves along at a ... MORE

Sometimes more is less, and this, unfortunately, is the case with Spider-Man 3. Director Sam Raimi has upped the ante in terms of just about every aspect of his latest installment of the storied Marvel Comics franchise. This means that the first blockbuster of the 2007 summer season features plenty ... MORE

It is a safe bet to assume that "Spider-Man 3" will make a killing at the box office. The first two installments that feature the Marvel Comics character grossed over $700 million combined and the spider-mania is sure to continue for the third film, despite its shortcomings...Running at 140 minutes,... If the first "Spider-Man" had a script as weak and muddled as the one for "Spider-Man 3," it's hard to believe it ever would have been made. But with the series a worldwide success -- and especially coming off "Spider-Man 2," which was superb -- the filmmakers can afford a weak entry without having ... MORE

New York's most famous webslinger finally pulls body and soul together in "Spider-Man 3," an extravagant three-ring circus of a movie from director Sam Raimi, but it's not without a struggle...This is the first blockbuster of the season and in keeping with that perennial comic book motif -- the dual... We all know Tobey Maguire spends a lot of time in the "Spider-Man" movies on his best behavior. But for one comical stretch in "Spider-Man 3," which opened worldwide this week, Maguire wilds out. The explanation is a long one. But basically, an inky substance from outer space follows Peter Parker ho... MORE
